About us

ANKON Consultants Inc.

Ankon began in 1980 in Cape Town, South Africa as a small construction company. We built houses and reinforced concrete structures. A year later my brother joined the company and we expanded into building roads and services for residential developments.

A few years later the construction industry was starting to go through a depression which in South Africa at the time was on roughly a seven year cycle. We decided to re-invent our company and, fueled by a passion of ours for sailing and a growing demand for ocean going sailing boats, we started a steel boat building company. Within five years we were producing the largest custom built sailing yachts in South Africa.

Unfortunately at that time the political situation was worsening. With violence on the rise and an uncertain future we made the hard decision to close up shop and I, with my family, emigrated, eventually settling in Vancouver, Canada.

In 2008 Ankon was reborn as Ankon Consultants Inc. Back in the construction industry our focus has been in construction cost consulting which is where we are today.

Anthony Craxton

I am qualified as a civil and structural engineer, project manager and quantity surveyor. I graduated for the University of Cape Town in 1971 and have been in the construction industry since then. I spent nine years in the design office designing reinforces and prestressed bridges, concrete structures, buildings, roads and municipal services such as storm, sewer and water.

I currently work solely as a professional quantity surveyor, or cost consultant, being registered with the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors with a PQS designation, and also a member of the Quantity Surveyors Society of British Columbia.

My key technical skills include construction estimating, project monitoring, legal expert witness, and scheduling. My education and experience as an engineer and owning a construction company are great assets in the field of quantity surveying.
